‘여자가 더 오래 사는 이유’에 대한 이 에세이의 주제는 남자와 여자가 생활하는 일상을 자세하게 들여다 보면 결론적으로 수명에 관한 이야기는 대단한 논문 등의 글을 보지않아도 알 수 있을 것이다. 단순하고 작은 운동과 대화를 즐기는 것을 비롯하여 남자에 비해 술과 담배 등 해로운 것들을 피하는 것들이 여자가 더 오래 살 수밖에 없는 이유를 그려보았다.

‘결과는 과정보다 중요하지 않다’는 이 에세이는 우주 만물의 움직에도 ‘과정’이 중요하며, 이 세상의 어떤 것들도 결과는 경과 과정에서 어떻게 했느냐(변했느냐)에 따라 결론이 만들어지는 것이므로 과정에서의 여부에 따라 결론은 따로 고려의 대상조차도 아니다. 이 세상의 어떤 것들도 최종적인 상황에서 결과는 항상 해체되거나 없어지는 것으로 끝나니까 말이다. 달리면서 과정의 중요성을 되뇌여 보는 좋은 시간이다.

The essay, “The outcome is not more important than the process,” is that “the process” is important to the movement of all things in the universe, and the conclusions are made according to how the results have changed in the course of the process, so the conclusions are not even subject to consideration depending on whether they are in the process or not. In the final situation of anything in the world, the results always end up being dismantled or eliminated. It is a good time to reflect on the importance of the process while running.
